Fanahan's Well
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
St Fanahan's Well used to be called Brí Gabhann. But the people used to wash their clothes in  it it and made it dirty because they didn't respect it. So the well moved out of that place to another a few miles away. There was a man who used to visit the well on St Fanahan's Night - 25 November - but when he came as usual he found the well had gone. As he stood there wondering what had happened to the well a woman all dressed in white came along and asked him what he was looking for. He told her. She then told him that the well had moved and where he could find it. She said it had moved because the people were not showing proper respect.
An Irish story recorded in the collections of the Irish Folklore Commission
